Quarter Horse Open House is Saturday at Fresno State

The Equine Program at California State University, Fresno will present the first of two spring open houses for its Quarter Horse Unit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb 10. The second will be March 31.

The Quarter Horse Unit at Barstow and Price avenues, west of O’Neill Park, is the setting for Animal Science classes and internships covering such areas as horse production, advanced horse management, stable management, equine nutrition and colt training.

The Quarter Horse Unit functions as a breeding and training enterprise. The young horses that students raise are for sale to the public.

At the open house, guests may tour the unit’s facilities, meet animal science students, learn about educational seminars and see horses for sale and stallions available for breeding.
Sale horses will include seven 4- and 5-year-olds, all well started under saddle, and a few 2- and 3-year-olds.

Admission is free.

In the event of rain, sale horses will be shown in the Animal Science Pavilion, at Barstow and Woodrow avenues, east of the Quarter Horse Unit.
