Sheriff Mims to speak Friday at Fresno State

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims will the speaker in the Forensic Science Seminar series at California State University, Fresno at 2 p.m. Friday

Mims, elected in November, will speak on "Law Enforcement Technology: Where are we now, and where are we going?" in the Science II building, room 109.

The speech is the second in the seminar series sponsored by the Department of Chemistry and FIRE (Forensic Investigation Research and Education), the organization of forensic science students.

The Professional Master’s of Science degree, a new master’s degree program added last fall at Fresno State, is preparing students for careers in the rapidly growing field of forensic science.

The two-year degree program is the only one of its kind in the central San Joaquin Valley and is drawing strong interest. The multidisciplinary program includes study in natural sciences such as chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics, and in social sciences such as criminology and law.

The program is free and open to the public. Parking restrictions will be relaxed in Lot J between 2-4 p.m.
