University publications, Website win awards

Fresno State captured six awards – including three top trophies – at the 2007 Image Awards sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America, Central California Chapter.

The annual competition recognizes excellence in public relations.

The Office of University Communications won the following:

Award of Excellence for the Web site of the Campaign for Fresno State, developed by Mark Aydelotte, associate vice president
Award of Excellence for Fresno State Magazine, edited by Shirley Melikian Armbruster
Award of Excellence for the University Journal, the online newsletter for faculty and staff, edited by Lanny Larson
Award of Merit for the annual report “New Century,” produced for the Office of Research and Sponsored programs
Award of Merit for the Fresno State Magazine article on engineering graduate Sam Iacobellis, “High-flying alumnus is an aviation leader,” written by freelancer Eli Setencich.

The university’s sixth award was garnered by Shirley Bruegman, director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Fresno State. She won an Award of Merit for her opinion piece, “We Write the Chapters of Lives,” published in The Fresno Bee.

The Central California Chapter of PRSA serves the counties of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced and Tulare, as well as individual practitioners in the counties of Stanislaus, San Luis Obispo and Santa Cruz.
