New Bulldog Marching Band camp offered

The Bulldog Marching Band at California State University, Fresno will host a summer music camp for middle school students from June 11-15 on campus.

The camp will feature daily classes focusing on small group sectionals, music theory introduction, music technology, music with computers and piano lab.

The cost is $250. A $50, non-refundable deposit is due no later than June 1.

The campus runs daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Friday, June 15, a concert at 3 p.m. will showcase what the students learned. Students receive a commemorative t-shirt and CD of the performance finale.

Gary Gilroy, director of Bands at Fresno State is organizing the camp. Conductors will include Michael Stone, music director for Kern County Schools in Bakersfield, and Dr. Anna Hamre, director of Choral Activities at Fresno State.

The camp will include piano class, jazz band, jazz choir, brass quintet, woodwind quintet, string quartet, handbells, string orchestra, chamber singers, guitar class and percussion ensemble.
