Fall classes begin today for 22,000 Fresno State students.

In a message to students in today’s Collegian, (http://collegian.csufresno.edu) President John D. Welty welcomed students to “another exciting academic year.” The student body includes 2,600 freshmen – the biggest frosh class in Fresno State history –1,800 new transfers and 800 new graduate students.

“It is important to remember that we are a university of opportunity for everyone,” said Welty “Fresno State gives people from every background the chance to dream and accomplish greatness in their lives. This is why we say Fresno State is ‘powering the New California.’ ”

Fresno State’s weekly advertisement on Page B2 of The Fresno Bee reminds readers that there are “22,000 reasons to care deeply” about the university.
