Fresno State choirs join concert Nov. 4

The Fresno State choirs under the direction of Dr. Anna Hamre will present "Where Earth Meets the Sky," an eclectic program of American choral music at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 in the Fresno State Concert Hall.

Performing will be the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Jazz Lab Choir, and Men's and Women's Ensembles.

The performance, including topics of mysticism and nature, will feature music by Paul Bassler, Dominick Argento, Z. Randall Stroope, Brent Pierce, Dale Engstrom and others.

A highlight of the concert will be the world premiere of "Baskets," a dramatic interpretation of California Costanoan Indian basketry with music by Benjamin Boone and lyrics by Helene Joseph-Weil, based on her original research. Both are Fresno State music faculty members.

Another new work on the concert will be "I Lie a Lot" arranged by Dale Engstrom from Fresno City College. The soloist will be his daughter Katie, a Fresno State student.

Tickets will be available at the door. Prices are $7 general admission and $5 seniors and students.
