Beethoven illuminator Haefliger plays Oct. 26

Pianist Andreas HaefligerOne of the world’s most singular pianists, Andreas Haefliger, will perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Concert Hall at California State University, Fresno.

Haefliger’s singularity centers on his devotion to the work of Beethoven, one of history’s most prolific and important composers, who was a piano virtuoso himself and a key transitional figure between music’s Classical and Romantic periods.

The Swiss pianist’s programs center on Beethoven, but include the work of other composers, giving listeners broader perspective on the similarities and differences.

The concert is presented as part of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts series under the guidance of Andreas Werz, a professor of piano at Fresno State.

Tickets are $12.50 general, $7 seniors and $5 students. They may be reserved by calling 559.278.2337.
