‘Lost Columbus’ presentation by First Nations is Friday, Oct. 12

Dr. Cornel Pewewardy, formerly a dean at Comanche Nation College in Oklahoma“Discovering the Lost Columbus” will be the topic of a presentation Friday, Oct. 12, at California State University, Fresno presented by the student organization, First Nations, to provide an indigenous perspective about Columbus Day.

Dr. Cornel Pewewardy, formerly a dean at Comanche Nation College in Oklahoma, will speak at 6:30 p.m., following a screening of the film, “Columbus Didn’t Discover Us,” at 6 o’clock.

Both are free and open to the pubic and will be in McLane Hall, room 121 (2345 E. San Ramon Ave.).

Pewewardy is an education consultant who also teaches American Indian Studies courses at Fresno City College. He taught at the University of Kansas School of Education and College of Arts and Sciences before becoming the dean of academic instruction at the Comanche Nation College.

The First Nations American Indian student organization was formed in May 2006 to increase awareness of indigenous cultures of the Americas.
