Counselor conference is Oct. 12

More than 150 high school counselors from throughout the central San Joaquin Valley will attend the fall 2007 Fresno State High School Counselor Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12.

Participants will receive information about admission polices and requirements for the California State University System, financial aid and technologies that the university uses to stay in touch with potential students and counselors.

At 9 a.m., Bernie Vinovrski, associate vice president for Enrollment Services, will open the conference in the Satellite Student Union with a discussion of enrollment, and improvements in admissions and financial aid procedures. He will talk about Fresno State’s 2,646 freshmen, making the fall 2007 first-year class the largest since the university was founded in 1911.

Mark Aydelotte, associate vice president of University Communications, will discuss “Fresno State - Powering the New California,” focusing on what students are engaged in, faculty research and campus growth outlined in the University Master Plan.

A bus tour of the Fresno State campus, including a look at recent and current construction, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
