California State University, Fresno will be one of the participants in the daylong Fresno Cultural Arts Conference, which begins at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in downtown Fresno.

Betsy Hays, an associate profession of mass communication and journalism, will conduct a session on “Maximizing Media Relations” during the event, whose theme is “Creating the Community Will and Commitment to a Thriving Cultural Arts Sector. Her session is at 10:15 a.m.

Other sessions during the day will consider reaching new audiences via the Web, service on boards, getting buy-in from the entire arts community and the general community, innovations in funding and other topics.
