“Sex and the city: genetics and evolution of more than one sex” will be discussed when Dr. Fred Schreiber of the Department of Biology at California State University, Fresno speaks at the Jan. 7 meeting of Central Valley Cafe Scientifique.

Schreiber will address how organisms have two sexes, like humans, but also how some have no sex, seven sexes or 500 sexes. The discussion will explore the diversity of sexual options available to living things and how they have evolved.

The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at DiCicco’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, 408 Clovis Ave. in downtown Clovis. The main presentation will begin at 7, followed by discussion.

Central Valley Cafe Scientifique meets the first Monday of each month to provide a forum for researchers from Fresno State and other organizations to engage in casual discussion of scientific topics with community members.
