Add
a Golden Globe as Best Animated Film of 2007 to the growing list of
awards won “Ratatouille,” which was produced by Brad Lewis, an alumnus
of California State University, Fresno. Lewis received a bachelor of
arts degree in theatre from Fresno State in 1980.
The announcement of the award by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association
was made Sunday. “Ratatouille” is the story of a French provincial rat
whose passion for food sets him on the path to adventure in Paris.
The film previously won awards from critics associations around the
country It is nominated for People’s Choice, Grammy, Annie and Cinema
Writers Circle (Spain) awards and is expected to be among Academy Awards
nominees to be announced Jan. 22.
Before joining Pixar Animation Studios in 2001, Lewis spent 13 years as
a producer, executive producer and executive vice-president of
production at Pacific Data Images, a wholly owned subsidiary of
DreamWorks Animation SKG. He was a producer on the animated feature film
“ANTZ” and on “Forces of Nature,” “The Peacemaker” and “Broken Arrow.”
Lewis has produced television specials such as Hanna-Barbera’s “The Last
Halloween,” for which he won an Emmy, and the first 3-D episode of “The
Simpsons.” He received a second Emmy for graphic design on “ABC Monday
Night Football” and two Clios for his commercial production work.
Lewis will return to campus during the 2008-2009 academic year as part
of the College of Arts and Humanities Distinguished Alumni Lecture
Series, which offers students and the community an opportunity to hear
from well-known Fresno State alumni.
