Fresno State’s Farm Market
stepped into the state spotlight this month with a mention in C
magazine.
Santa Monica-based C promotes itself as the first magazine devoted to
the style of California, including a monthly “insider's perspective” on
a city in the state. For the January issue, Fresno resident Mimi
Fanucchi and Fresno State alumna, wrote about various aspects of Fresno.
“Eating out is a treat, but cooking at home for family and friends is a
pleasure,” she wrote. “I shop the student-run Fresno State Farm Market
for the freshest meats, dairy products and seasonal fruits and
vegetables.”
The magazine is available at Borders or Barnes and Noble bookstores.
The Farm Market, now in its 20th year, is on the northeast edge of the
campus, at Chestnut and Barstow avenues, featuring products from the
University Farm with proceeds benefiting Fresno State’s ag programs.
Students are involved in the growing, development, packaging and
marketing of the products sold in the Farm Market.
In December, wine tastings were introduced at the market and will be
held throughout the year, helping acquaint customers with award-winning
Fresno State wines.
The Farm Market is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
In appreciation of the
community’s support of the Farm Market and the Fresno State agriculture
program, a 10 percent discount will be offered on all purchases made at
the Farm Market through Saturday, Jan. 12.
The market is open during
reconstruction of the Chestnut-Barstow intersection as part of the
widening of Chestnut. Access is available via detours from Barstow to
the west and from Shaw and Woodrow avenues on the south side of the
campus. A map showing access routes to the Farm Market is at:http://www.fresnostatenews.com/2008/01/farmmarketaccess.jpg
