State University, Fresno's 90.7 KFSR radio station will present "A Very
Special Evening with Garrison Keillor" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18,
at the William Saroyan Theater.
Keillor is best known as the host and creator of the public radio
variety program "A Prairie Home Companion," which airs on 90.7 KFSR
Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at noon. Each week, Keillor's signature
monologue "The News From Lake Wobegon" chronicles the stories of a
fictional Minnesota town that "time forgot and the decades cannot
improve."
Keillor is the author of more than a dozen books, including the Lake
Wobegon-themed novel "Pontoon" and the political commentary "Homegrown
Democrat." He also publishes "The Old Scout," a regular newspaper column
syndicated by Tribune Media Services. His works have appeared in The
Atlantic Monthly, The New Yorker and on Salon.com. Keillor is a National
Humanities Medalist and a member of the Radio Hall of Fame.
90.7 KFSR is a member-supported station and can be heard over the air
throughout most of Fresno County, as well as online at
www.kfsr.org. The station airs select
nationally produced programs as well as music ranging from jazz to rock.
The station is operated by a combination of university students,
faculty, staff and alumni, as well as broadcasting professionals and
community members.
