Literary experts will be at California State University, Fresno on March 20-21 to discuss “The Future of the Book in the Digital Age.” The colloquium focuses on the fate of traditional books as it may be determined by modern technologies.

The colloquium will begin at 6 p.m. on March 20 with a dinner (free with registration.) At 7 p.m. there will be a keynote presentation by Robert Stein, the director of the Institute for the Future of the Book and a senior fellow at the London School of Economics in the Department of Social Psychology. Stein’s presentation is titled, “The Evolution of Reading and Writing in the Networked Era or Yikes! What if everything (and everyone) really is connected?”

On March 21, the colloquium will continue from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. It will feature panel presentations and open discussions with representatives from Brandeis University, Pomona College, Media Commons, Stanford University, Public Knowledge Project, and the University of California Press.

The first Library Colloquium at Fresno State is presented by the Office of the Provost, the Henry Madden Library, and the Printise J. Womack Lecture Fund.
