Fresno State grad earns national theatre recognition

Katy Streeter, a 2004 graduate of California State University, Fresno, won second place in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival's 2007 Barbizon Award for Excellence in Lighting Design.

With the award, Streeter earned a full tuition grant for Live Design's Broadway Lighting Master Classes.

For the Barbizon Awards, the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival selects participants from eight regional festivals held at colleges and universities. Participants who showcase their talents are considered for scholarships and awards; they are also invited to participate in master classes with notable artists in their field.

Streeter, a member of the Smittcamp Family Honors College at Fresno State, earned her bachelor's degree in theatre arts. She continued her studies at California State University, Fullerton, where she entered the M.F.A. program in lighting design.
