The Fresno State Alumni
Association (FSAA) invites nominations from alumni, faculty, staff,
students and friends of California State University, Fresno for the 2008
Top Dog Alumni Awards.
Alumni/alumnae who have
distinguished themselves in their careers and service are honored each
fall at the Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala in the Save Mart Center,
Three awards are
presented:

The Distinguished
Alumni Award, the highest honor given to an alumnus/alumna of the
university, which is based on scholarship, leadership and service to
the university, the region and the state. Last year's recipient,
Larry Dickenson, is the Boeing Company's Commercial Airplanes Group
senior vice president for sales. He joined other past awardees, Herb
Depp, vice president of Boeing Programs for General Electric's
Aircraft Engines; former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn; former State Sen.
Charles Poochigian; and Joy Covey, former chief strategy officer for
Amazon.com.

Outstanding Alumni
Awards, which recognize Fresno State alumni/alumnae from each of the
university's eight schools and colleges of academic discipline, and
the Division of Student Affairs, Athletics Department, Graduate
Studies and Henry Madden Library. Honorees are recognized for
outstanding career accomplishment and as examples for current
students of exceptional achievement. Past recipients include the
late Air Force Col. Rick Husband, commander of the space shuttle
Columbia; former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neill;
multiple Emmy-winning set designer Roy Christopher; and Laura Berg,
an Olympic gold medalist in softball.

The Arthur Safstrom
Service Award, presented to an alumnus/alumna or friend of
California State University, Fresno who has given outstanding
service to the Alumni Association or the university. Last year's
recipient was Rosellen Kershaw, who joined past awardees including
Muriel and Earl Smittcamp, Robert Duncan, Pat and Vinci Ricchiuti
and Sister Ruth Marie Nickerson.
