 Professors from Fresno State and other universities will discuss ethical questions at a daylong “Theoretical and Applied Ethics” conference at California State University, Fresno on March 24.

The conference is sponsored by the Department of Philosophy in conjunction with the Ethics Center at Fresno State.

Session one will begin at 9 a.m. in the Alice Peters Auditorium, Room 191, Peters Business Building. Topics include:

• “Freedom and Responsibility in Moral Discourse” by Barbara LaBossiere, assistant professor of philosophy at Fresno State

• “Moral Facts and First-Person Perspective” by Andrew Fiala, associate professor of philosophy at Fresno State

• “Defending Socrates and Aristotle on Akrasia” by Mariana Anagnostopoulos, lecturer of philosophy at Fresno State

• “Holding Others Responsible” by Coleen McNamara from University of California, Riverside.

Session two will begin at 1 p.m. in the University Student Union, Room 312. Topics include:

• “Some Thoughts on the Singularity of Persons” by Ivan Welty from Willamette University

• “An Environmentalist’s Lament of Predation” by Ty Ratterman of the University of the Pacific

• “Against Rational Atomism” by Jeremy Koon from Stonehill College.
