Three teams whose members
include California State University, Fresno students will compete for
$10,000 in prize money May 3 in the final round of the annual Student
Business Plan Competition sponsored by the Lyles Center for Innovation
and Entrepreneurship at Fresno State.
Students will present business plans to a panel of judges in bids to win
the $6,500 first prize. The award is intended to help the winning team
develop its business. Second- and third-place finishers will be awarded
$2,500 and $1,000, respectively.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters
Educational Center located in the Student Recreation Center on campus.
The first-place team automatically will be entered into the Draper
Fisher Jurveston $250,000 Ventura Competition, in which they will
compete with 15 other teams from California universities. The winner
also will receive office space for a year at the Lyles Center.
Additionally, the top team will win a scholarship to attend the E-Myth
Leadership Intensive Seminar, a two-day event valued at $1,500.
Teams must include at least one Fresno State student or a student from a
partnering community college.
Members from the three advancing Fresno State teams – and the names of
their projects – are as follows:
MEMS/Silicone Microphone Sensor project: Kiet Minh Khong and Alfredo
Ledesma, Fresno; David Huynh, Hanford; Omar Hussain Khaja, Hyderabad,
India; Chung Hoon Lee (faculty).
Tomorrow’s Music: New Media project: David van Gilluew, Three Rivers;
Nathaniel Dahman, Madera; Jabriel Pumarejo, Fresno; Corey Whitehead
(faculty).
EdHeal.com project: Sky Voltaire, Fresno (Chico State student); Scott
Peters, Reedley; Alastair MacLeod, Coalinga; Mike Summers (staff).
