A new program giving children
an opportunity to explore veterinary medicine is one of numerous summer
programs at California State University, Fresno beginning in June.
The Summer Vet Camp will be led by veterinarians and veterinary
technicians. Children will learn through hands-on work with animals,
technology demonstrations and laboratories.
The camp is from 8 a.m.-noon July 14-18 for children entering grades
7-9. Registration costs $230 per child. For more information, call

Other academic-oriented summer programs will be offered for children
interested in inventions and science, and sports camps will teach the
fine points of football, basketball and soccer.

The Division of Continuing and Global Education – Extension Programs
will offer Science Adventures day camps from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Monday-Friday for children in K-6 grades.
Camp sessions are:

Detective: Children build science detective kits and explore
magnets, phosphorescence and invisible ink. Class number: 50301

July 7-11, Gizmo’s
Gadgets and Goop: Children explore batteries, light bulbs and
buzzers and create motorized K’Nex racers, roller coasters, planes

July 14-18, Extreme
Sports Science: Children build fitness kits and study basic
human anatomy, listen to their own heartbeat with a stethoscope,
measure their pulse, build a skeleton and exercise with a pedometer.

July 28-Aug. 1, Space
and Rocketry ’08: Participants’ voyage of discovery includes
exploring secrets of Mars, making a Mars rover, creating telescopes
and charting constellations. Class number: 50304
Registration before May 15 is
$269 per child per camp. Discounts are available for multiple camps per
family. Registration May 16-June 1 is $279; $289 after June 1, subject
to availability. Fee includes a T-shirt, Friday lunch and admission to
the Downing Planetarium on campus.
KIDS Invent!™ (559.347.3900)
Kids Invent!™ is an innovative summer camp with activities that foster
creative thinking, inventing and entrepreneurial enterprise by designing
and building toy mockups. During development, participants make
presentations and work with other children in a variety of tasks.
Children get to keep their inventions.
The Craig School of Business-related camps are 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Monday-Friday for children in grades 4-8. Programs are offered on the
following dates with designated themes:

Before May 15, the fee is
$279 per camper, increasing to $299, which includes all materials,
handouts, snacks, use of computer labs and a T-shirt.

(second floor of the Student Recreation Center, next to Save Mart

Individual Skills and Techniques Camp will be June 7-8 for students
entering grades 9-12. The cost is $300 for campers who stay overnight
and $200 for campers who commute; increasing by $25 after May 1.
Fresno State Women’s Basketball Camp (call 559.278.6061)
The program hosts a girls and boys camp June 9-13. Session I is from 9
a.m. to noon for grades K-6. Session II is from 1 to 4 p.m. for grades
7-12.

Soccer Academy (call 559.278.8302)
The program is designed to provide a safe environment for the best
soccer instruction for all players. The academy takes place at Fresno
State’s training facilities and is staffed by current and past Fresno
State men’s and women’s athletes and coaches.
