Aetna Chairman and CEO Ronald
A. Williams will join California State University, Fresno President John
Welty on Tuesday, May 6 to celebrate the grand opening of the Aetna
Wellness Resource Center on campus.
A ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the facility, located
in the Student Health Center. Williams and Welty will speak at 12:25
p.m.
The Aetna Wellness Resource Center was made possible by a $30,000 grant
from the Aetna Foundation. It houses a library of health-related
information, computers for student and faculty research and educational
activities, and a relaxation lounge with health-testing equipment and
other services.
In 2007, Aetna (NYSE: AET) and the Aetna Foundation awarded 274 grants
totaling $6 million to community organizations across the country
through its Healthy Community Program. Fresno State received its grant
in December.
Aetna places great emphasis on wellness, partnerships in the community,
and a focus on embracing diversity. The opening of the Aetna Wellness
Resource Center highlights these commitments.
Through one of its employee resource groups – Aetna Hispanic Network (AHN)
– Aetna has been a longtime partner with Fresno State. AHN has provided
service to the Chicano Alumni of Fresno State for events that include
the annual scholarship banquet and Los Niños Holiday Literacy Festival.
