The
Central California chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)
presented nine Image Awards to California State University, Fresno for
print, online and video public relations initiatives.
The awards were presented in a ceremony on Friday, May 2.
Awards of Excellence in online publications went to the Fresno State
Alumni Association and the Office of University Communications, both
divisions of University Advancement.
The Alumni Association was honored for The Bulldog Byte, a monthly
compilation of alumni accomplishments, milestones and information edited
by Katie Johnson. University Communications won for the University
Journal, a monthly newsletter for faculty and staff compiled by Lanny
Larson.
An Award of Excellence in the Magazine category was presented for
University Communications’ FresnoState Magazine, a twice-yearly
publication about the campus that also is published online. Larson also
edits the magazine.
Awards of Merit were presented for the following:

Branding and logo
development – “IamFresnoState” by Peter Robertson, director of
annual giving, University Advancement.

Brochure – “Fresno State
View Book,” Priscilla Helling, graphic artist, University
Communications; and “Bulldog Foundation Fund Brochure,” Todd Graves,
graphic artist, University Communications.

Special publications –
“First Generation Stories,” University Communications staff/Todd
Graves.

Video – “Best of Fresno,”
Sarah Woodward, associate director, Alumni Association.

Writing – FresnoState
magazine feature “Sanchez diplomacy extends to and from his alma
mater,” written by freelancer Eli Setencich.
The Image Awards program
takes entries from throughout the chapter’s service area in Fresno,
Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced and Tulare counties. They were
judged by members from the PRSA Eastern District chapter in West
Virginia.
