A
Celebration of Wine – a fundraiser benefiting the Vincent Petrucci
Research Library at California State University, Fresno – will be from 3
to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Borba family¹s Rancho Vista del Rio, on
the banks of the San Joaquin River at Highway 99.
The event, hosted by
the Fresno State Viticulture and Enology Alumni Association, is open to
the public. Admission is $70, which includes wine tasting, food, a
commemorative wine glass, buffet plate and drawing ticket for a framed
print of this year’s theme art.
For 26 years, A
Celebration of Wine has showcased some of California finest wineries –
including the award-winning Fresno State Winery – and central San
Joaquin Valley restaurants. Nearly 100 wineries will pour sampling
tastes to accompany appetizers and entrée samples prepared by 40
restaurants.
A silent auction will
feature many rare, prestigious and large bottles of wine. Following the
wine tasting, dessert and coffee are provided along with live music.
The Vincent Petrucci
Research Library, housed in the Viticulture and Enology Research Center
(VERC) at Fresno State, serves viticulture and enology students and is
open to the general public. The library supports the university
curriculum and research projects that are conducted through VERC with a
blend of historical and current materials.
Alumni of Fresno
State’s acclaimed viticulture and enology program work at many of the
wineries participating in A Celebration of Wine, said Dr. Robert Wample,
VERC director and chair of the Viticulture and Enology Department in the
College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
