State University, Fresno’s Lyles Center for Innovation and
Entrepreneurship and Craig School of Business are seeking business plans
in a quarter-million dollar national competition to start a business in
Fresno.
“Start It Up: Fresno’s $250K Entrepreneur Challenge” offers an
opportunity to turn a business idea into reality in the heart of
California by offering a $100,000 cash prize and $150,000 worth of
in-kind services.
“Fresno is the fifth largest city in California, and it continues to
grow,” said Dr. Tim Sterns, executive director of the Lyles Center.
“This competition is a chance for entrepreneurs nationwide to bring
their business to a great city that will no doubt offer a very rewarding
return on investment.”
The competition is open to anyone with a plan for an innovative new
business or who already has started a promising business.
Ten finalists will be chosen to come to Fresno on Oct. 2-3 to present
plans to a panel of judges, with the winner announced and presented
during halftime of the Oct. 4 Fresno State vs. Hawai’i football game in
Bulldog Stadium.
Joining the Lyles Center and Craig School in organizing and sponsoring
the competition are City of Fresno Economic Development, Fresno
Redevelopment Agency and Table Mountain Rancheria.
