Mess with tradition and you’re likely to stir up dissent, which happened when a new-look TimeOut was unveiled a year ago as the mascot for Fresno State Bulldog athletics teams.

So the Fresno State Department of Athletics is letting democracy rule, by offering fans an opportunity to vote on keeping the “new” mascot or returning to a grayer, more-traditional TimeOut this fall.

The online balloting began Monday, July 28, and continues until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1.
