A
Web site has been launched to update what’s happening at the Fresno
State’s Homecoming, scheduled Oct. 6-12.
The highlights of a busy week of activities are the Top Dog Alumni
Awards Gala on Oct. 10 in the Save Mart Center and the Oct. 11 Fresno
State vs. Idaho football game.
Also on Oct. 10, the community is invited to a free pep rally on Bulldog
Boulevard, just outside Bulldog Stadium, to set the mood for the
following evening’s Western Athletic Conference game between the
Bulldogs and Vandals.
The Fresno State Alumni Association, Fresno State Athletics, USU
Productions and Associated Students Inc. are organizing a week of
on-campus activities around the theme, “Road Trip to Victory.” The idea
is to encourage students, staff, faculty and administrators of today and
the past to join in Homecoming events, meet old Fresno State friends and
support the Bulldogs’ effort against Idaho.
Also part of Homecoming will be a volleyball game at 2 p.m. Oct. 11 in
the Save Mart Center between Fresno State and Nevada, the alma mater of
new Fresno State coach, Lauren Netherby-Sewell. Admission is free for
those who show a ticket to the football game that evening.
At noon Oct. 12, the same deal will be available for a conference soccer
match between the Bulldogs and Hawai’i, the teams that met for the WAC
championship last fall. Fresno State will be out to avenge a 1-0 loss.
This year’s Homecoming celebration also will have a community-service
component as everyone is encouraged to bring canned food to each event,
including all games, to benefit the Fresno Community Food Bank.
