Fresno State volunteers to join Make A Difference Day on Saturday

More than 50 students, faculty and staff from California State University, Fresno will help clean up the Lewis Eaton Trail at Woodward Park during “Make A Difference Day,” Saturday, Oct. 25.

Make a Difference Day is a nationwide day of helping others. Locally, volunteers will be completing beautification projects throughout the city of Fresno. The Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning at Fresno State is coordinating the campus volunteers.

The event is sponsored by Fresno State, Hands On Central California, City of Fresno PARCS Department, Fresno Local Conservation Corps, McLane High School, Fresno Downtown Association, the Redevelopment Agency of Fresno and the city of Fresno.

“This is the fourth year Fresno State has participated in Make A Difference Day. Our volunteers provide a great service to our community during this event and they have a lot of fun, too,” said Renee Delport, event coordinator for the Richter Center.

A morning kick-off event will take place at McLane High School for all volunteers, who will go to their respective service locations at 9 a.m. A celebration lunch at McLane High School follows the clean-up.
