Food, politics and the
economy will be topics at two Ethics Center Lecture Series sessions
Wednesday, Nov. 19, sponsored by California State University, Fresno’s
Ethics Center. The lectures are free and open to the public.
“Food and the Politics of Scarcity” will be the topic of Edie Jessup’s
lecture at noon in the Alice Peters Auditorium located in the University
Business Center.
Jessup coordinator of Fresno Metro Ministry’s program on Hunger &
Nutrition Services. She serves on several regional and statewide boards
and committees that focus on hunger, food and nutrition. Her talk will
draw on the experience of Fresno Metro Ministry in addressing hunger,
food access and policy in Fresno County.
At 7 p.m., “Ethics and the Economy” will be the topic of a panel
discussion by Fresno State faculty members in the Leon S. and Pete P.
Peters Educational Center located in the Student Recreation Center.
Panelists include Mark Keppler (director of the Maddy Institute), Dr.
Ida Jones and Dr. Tomasz Wielicki (Craig School of Business), Dr. Eric
Tymoigne (Economics) and Dr. Jan Slagter (Women’s Studies).
The economy panel presentation is co-sponsored with the Economics Club,
Financial Management Associate and the Philosophy Club.
