Professor emeritus Kapoor honored by Islamic Cultural Center |

Dr. Sudarshan Kapoor, professor emeritus of social work education, was recognized for his work to promote harmony among all faiths by the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno, which presented him a Spirit of Abraham Award. The founder of the Peace Garden and the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Fresno State, Kapoor is a renowned community activist. Kapoo retired from 39 years of teaching at the university in May 2008. Fresno State President Dr. John Welty said of the honoree: “I can think of no one more deserving of special recognition. Dr. Kapoor has devoted his life to peace and harmony.” Kapoor and another Fresnan, Dr. Kursheed Ali, were each presented the award for 2008 at dinner and fundraising drive on Sept. 12. |
