‘Sisidlan’ sculpture show Feb. 19-27

Sculptural works in a show title “Sisidlan” by graduate student Genevieve Bartolo will be featured in the Conley Art Gallery at Fresno State from Feb. 19-27. A reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19.

The show is Bartolo’s Master of Arts Exhibition as a culmination of her graduate studies.

"Sisidlan" is a Filipino term for containment. "Sisidlan" is a spiritual container that shelters and protects this human's fragile existence. In this exhibit it references a metaphorical exploration of such issues and concepts as enclosure and confinement. Symbolic icons such as cocoons, nests, and eggs have inspired this work, which utilizes natural fiber as predominant medium.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. The gallery is in the Phebe Conley Arts building. Free parking during the reception is available in Lot B.
