Top Dog Alumni nominations sought

The Fresno State Alumni Association invites nominations from alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of California State University, Fresno for the 2009 Top Dog Alumni Awards.

Former Fresno State students who have distinguished themselves in their careers and service are honored each fall at the Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala in the Save Mart Center on campus.

Three awards are presented:

  • The Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor given to an alumnus/alumna, which is based on scholarship, leadership and service to the university, the region and the state. Last year’s recipient, Nat DiBuduo, is the president for Allied Grape Growers, a California winegrape growers association with almost 600 members. He joined other past awardees, Larry Dickenson, Boeing Company’s (NYSE: BA) Commercial Airplanes Group senior vice president for sales; Herb Depp, vice president of Boeing Programs for General Electric’s (NYSE: GE) Aircraft Engines; former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn; former State Sen. Charles Poochigian; and Joy Covey, former chief strategy officer for Amazon.com.

  • Outstanding Alumni Awards, which recognize alumni/alumnae from each of the Fresno State’s eight schools and colleges of academic discipline, and the Division of Student Affairs, Athletics Department, Graduate Studies and Henry Madden Library. Honorees are recognized for outstanding career accomplishment and role models for current students of exceptional achievement. Past recipients include the late Air Force Col. Rick Husband, commander of the space shuttle Columbia; former Secretary of the Treasury Paul O’Neill; Clio, Emmy, Golden Globe and Oscar winner Brad Lewis; and Kerri Donis, deputy fire chief for the city of Fresno.
