The Central California Autism
Center at California State University, Fresno plans several events to
mark Autism Awareness month in April.
The center will kick off the month with the second annual Autism
Awareness Field Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 3 on the lawn east of
the Music Building on the corner of Maple and Keats avenues. The field
day offers a bounce house and slide, simulated sumo wrestling, bubble
fun and balloon animals, face painting, arts and crafts and popcorn.
The event is free and open to the public, with free parking available in
Lot C.
On April 16, the inaugural golf tournament benefiting the Central
California Autism Center tees off at the Madera Municipal Golf Course
(23200 Avenue17 in Madera).
The center will continue to promote autism awareness with a “Strike Out
Autism” night at the Fresno Grizzlies baseball game April 25. The night
will feature an on-field parade, fun zone activities during the game and
an auction of special Grizzlies autism awareness jerseys. Local
agencies, community organizations and resources will provide information
about autism efforts. Proceeds from ticket sales through the Central
California Autism Center will benefit the center.
