Powwow is April 4 |
|
American Indian art and culture will be celebrated at a traditional Powwow at California State University, Fresno from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.
The Fresno State Exhibition Powwow is free and open to the public at Fresno State’s O’Neill Park (Barstow and Woodrow avenues).
Presented by the First Nations student organization, the powwow marks the 18th non-consecutive year since Fresno State began hosting the event.
It will feature arts and crafts, American Indian foods such as Indian tacos and information booths. Organizers said the event will serve as a celebration of culture, a traditional social gathering and a religious event with traditional dance and drumming including performances by Aztec dancers.
The event is co-sponsored by the Africana and American Indian Studies Program, the College of Social Sciences and Associated Students Inc. Parking will be available in lots P and Y.
For more information, contact Dr. Kenneth Hansen, First Nations adviser and co-coordinator of the Africana and American Indian Studies Program, at 559.278.2260. |
