Visiting professor to lecture March 24 on Armenian church

Dr. George Bournoutian, Henry S. Khanzadian Kazan Visiting Professor of Armenian Studies at California State University, Fresno, will speak on “The Armenian Church Under Russian Rule: 1600-1800,” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Room 191 of the University Business Center in the Peters Business Building.

Bournoutian has done extensive work in translating primary sources of Armenian Church history from Russian into Armenian. He has taught Eastern European and Middle Eastern history at Iona College since 1989 and is the author of 17 books and dozens of articles in journals and encyclopedias.

This is the second in a series of lectures on the Armenian Church during the spring semester. The third lecture, on the church in south Asia, will be held April 21.
