Writer Mark Arax to speak at Fresno State April 15

Local author and Fresno State alumnus Mark Arax, will discuss his new book “West of the West: Dreamers, Believers, Builders, and Killers in the Golden State” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15 in the Alice Peters Auditorium located in the University Business Center at California State University, Fresno.

Arax will discuss the inspiration and the purpose behind the novel, which is a collection of stories depicting the lives of Californians. A book signing will follow the discussion.

Arax, is also the co-author of “The King of California” and author of “In My Father's Name. He is the senior policy director for State Sen. Dean Florez, D-Shafter, and a former senior writer at the Los Angeles Times. He teaches nonfiction writing at Claremont McKenna College.

The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available in lots A and J, just east of the Peters Business building.

The event is sponsored by the Central Valley Institute for Regional and Historical Studies and the Department of History.
