Campus Pointe project continues to move forward |
|
The Campus Pointe mixed-use project on the east side of the Fresno State campus is moving along smoothly, Deborah Adishian-Astone, associate vice president for auxiliary operations at California State University, Fresno, reported in a video interview with the University Journal, a faculty-staff newsletter.
The “workforce,” or community housing phase, which includes 144 units of one- and two-bedroom rental units, will be completed this summer and occupancy will probably start in July and August, she said.
Work started in March on phase II, which is a “student friendly” housing project that is designed to be more attractive to students. Its suite-style design has individual bathrooms and bedrooms.
Campus Pointe is a public-private project, which means the ground is leased through the auxiliary organization to a third party private development team lead by Kashian Enterprises.
“Because the project is on campus land it has been designed to be integrated with the campus master plan and the complementary architectural style, even though it will be owned and operated by non-university entities,” said Adishian-Astone.
The mixed-use project is one of its first of its kind in the CSU system.
The next phase of Campus Pointe is the retail portion, which will have restaurants, various types of retail stores and a 14-screen theater. This phase also broke ground in March, beginning with infrastructure and road work. It will be approximately 24 months before this component is fully built out and leased. This summer, work will start on the senior housing project, which will be the fourth project.
The final phase of Campus Pointe will be the hotel. “We don’t expect that project to break ground probably until sometime in 2010 and most likely it will not be open until 2012,” Adishian-Astone said. For more information, contact Adishian-Astone at 559.278.0800.
