Fresno State alumna Jan
Yanehiro will discuss “Resettlement to Redress,” a film documenting the
relocation of Japanese-Americans who had been interned during World War
II. The presentation will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3, at California
State University, Fresno.
Yanehiro narrates the documentary that examines the resettlement period
after World War II through 1988, when President Ronald Reagan signed
into law H.R.442 formally recognizing that internment of
Japanese-Americans was based on racism and merited an apology and
reparation.
A question-answer period will follow the documentary’s screening in the
Alice Peters Auditorium within the University Business Center. The event
is free and open to the public.
Yanehiro, a 1970 journalism graduate of Fresno State, is an Emmy
Award-winning television host. She also pioneered the magazine format on
television as co-host of “Evening Magazine.” Currently she hosts
“Everyday Angels” on Comcast cable television and is the executive
producer of “Pacific Fusion TV.”
Parking will be available in the University Business Center parking lot
between lots A and J, just east of the Peters Business Building.
