Los Danzantes de Aztlán, Fresno State's Mexican folkloric dance

El Festival de Los Danzantes,
a three-day cultural and folkloric dance conference featuring performers
from throughout California and Mexico, begins Friday, April 3 at
California State University, Fresno.
The festival runs through Sunday (April 5) and will feature
performances, classes and workshops for dancers of every talent level,
ages 9 and up. The event is open to the public. Registration is $85. A
Pachanga Saturday night featuring live music by Los Hermanos Herrera is
$18 for adults and $15 for children under 12.
The festival is hosted by Los Danzantes de Aztlán, a folkloric dance
troupe in Fresno State’s Chicano and Latin American Studies Department.
Co-sponsors are Arte Americas and the College of Social Sciences.
Pre-registration is Friday from 7-10 p.m. in the Social Science
Building, located south of Barstow Avenue on San Ramon Avenue.
On Saturday, registration continues at 7 a.m. in the Engineering West
parking Lot L. Workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will continue at the Rotary Amphitheater at Woodward Park from
6-8 p.m. Saturday with the Calabaceado/Norteno Festival, which will
feature performances by dance groups throughout California.
The Pachanga will follow the performances.
Sunday will begin at 9 a.m. with dance workshops followed by a recital.
The festival will conclude from 4-6 p.m. with the Du Festival Concert in
the Satellite Student Union (2485 E. San Ramon Ave. at Maple Avenue).
