Faculty
and staff at California State University, Fresno are taking Fresno
County’s challenge to ride bicycles to work on Thursday, May 14. That
morning, President John D. Welty also will be biking to the university.
“Bike to Work Day” is a corporate challenge issued by the Fresno County
Bicycle Coalition to encourage people to ride bicycles to work. The
purpose of event is to promote good health and clean air.
In 2008, 118 Team Bulldog riders, including Dr. Welty, participated.
Again this year, a group will join him in a ride from University House,
the president’s residence, to Fresno State.
Participation is free. Riders check in at the North Gym when they arrive
on campus and report their mileage from home. The team with the highest
mileage wins a catered lunch for the entire team.
