Farcical ‘Laughing Stock’ closes
Theatre season
California
State University, Fresno’s 2008-09 University Theatre season
comes to a close with “Laughing Stock,” a farce by Charles Morey
based on an affectionately scathing backstage look into the
world of the local theater.
Fresno State’s
production debuts at 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, on the John Wright
Theatre stage in the Speech Arts Building. Additional
performances are at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2 p.m. Sunday, May
10, and 8 p.m. May 12-16.
“Laughing
Stock” tells what happens – from auditions to the season’s close
– when a New England summer theater takes on an ambitious
schedule of “Dracula,” “Hamlet” and “Charley’s Aunt.”
The play is
directed by Kathleen McKinley, chair of the Department of
Theatre Arts. Students are the performers and the
behind-the-scenes workers for University Theatre productions.
Tickets are $17
for general admission; $15 for Fresno State faculty, staff and
Alumni Association members, seniors (60+) and non-Fresno State
students; $10 for Fresno State students. Identification is
required for some ticket classes. Children under 5 will not be
admitted.
Tickets are
available at the University Theatre Box Office (north entrance
of the Speech Arts Building), which is open noon-4 p.m.
Monday-Friday. The phone number is 559.278.2216. |
