Arts and Humanities alumni lecture Nov. 5 |
The
College of Arts and Humanities at California State University, Fresno
continues its Distinguished Alumni Series on Thursday, Nov. 5 with a
lecture by Sid Cox, founder of Cox Communications.
Cox
will speak to students at 1 p.m. in the McKee Fisk Building, Room 242.
A
1952 graduate and Valley icon in public relations, Cox will talk about
his time at Fresno State, and how his degree in journalism and his
experience reporting, his time as vice president of Producers Cotton
Oil, as well as the founding of his own public relations consultancy
have contributed to his knowledge and growth in public relations.
After graduating from Fresno State, Cox began reporting for KMJ radio
and writing for the Fresno Bee on agriculture-related issues.
He served in the Korean War and returned to the Valley where he
began working for Producers Cotton Oil, eventually rising to vice
president. In 1988, Cox founded his own
public relations consulting firm, Cox Communications.
The
Distinguished Alumni Series is a five-part series that welcomes alumni
back to campus to speak to students in the same field of study as the
alumni. The lecture is open to the public without charge.
