Dr.
Sharon Brown-Welty, professor of education at California State
University, Fresno, is among the Top Ten Professional Women of 2009
selected by the Marjaree Mason Center in Fresno.
Brown-Welty is a
professor of education and the current director of Fresno State’s
Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership and chair of the Educational
Research and Administration department in the Kremen School of Education
and Human Development.
She teaches courses in
both the master’s and doctoral programs. Her research interests include
evaluation and, specifically, utilization of evaluation results. She
teaches classes in education leadership, organizational theories,
conflict resolution, strategic planning, policy development and change
theory.
Brown-Welty also is the
director of the Center for Research, Evaluation, Assessment and
Dissemination. She is on the board of directors for Court Appointed
Special Advocates and has served as that group's president for the past
six years.
She is an active member
of the Central Valley Educational Research Consortium, serves on the
Alternative Governance Board of the Hanford Elementary School District
and has worked as a coach for P-12 schools as part of Springboard.
For 26 years, the
Marjaree Mason Center has paid tribute to women who have served as role
models and who have given back to their communities, all while making
strides in their professions.
The center provides
support services to victims of domestic violence, including shelter,
legal assistance, counseling and crisis support. |
