Lecture at Fresno State examines ancient Indian healthcare |

A free lecture on "Healing the Whole Person: Wellness and Ayurveda" by Dr. Marc Halpern will be held at California State University, Fresno from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. The lecture, centered on Ayurveda, an ancient medical and healthcare system from India, will offer attendees a look into the system and its use throughout history. How Ayurveda is being used in the Central Valley today also will be discussed. Halpern is the founder and president of the California College of Ayurveda. He is one of the pioneers of Ayurveda in the West and is one of the few Westerners ever recognized in both the United States and in India as an authority on the subject. The lecture is sponsored by the College of Health and Human Services, the department of Public Health, the department of Social Work Education and the Central Valley Health Policy Institute.
