'Boomerang Reception' Dec. 22 at Fresno State

President John D. Welty of California State University, Fresno, will be among Fresno leaders promoting job opportunities at a Boomerang Reception on Tuesday, Dec. 22, sponsored by the university’s Office of Community and Economic Development.

The event is designed to encourage people who formerly lived or attended college in the central San Joaquin Valley to take advantage of 1,000 jobs available in the area ranging from skilled professionals to executive management positions.

The reception and holiday mixer will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Smittcamp Alumni House on campus (2625 E. Matoian Way). There was so much interest in this inaugural event that it is fully subscribed.

The program was devised to take advantage of the return home for the holidays of many qualified people who could help fill existing job vacancies that would help local businesses, which would stimulate the local economy.

Joining Welty will be Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin, who previously was executive director of the Office of Community and Economic Development, and Dr. Merrill Ewert, president of Fresno Pacific University. Also speaking will be employers with jobs available and individuals who have returned to the Valley to live and pursue careers.
