'Best of Broadway' comes to Fresno State Concert Hall on May 6
The Fresno State Symphonic Band and Opera Workshop will present "The Best of Broadway," a 90-minute revue of hits from shows over the past 70 years. The concert is scheduled at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at the Concert Hall in the Music Building. The program includes songs from Camelot, Les Miserables, West Side Story, and many other productions that generated some of the most popular Broadway show tunes. Tickets are $6, general, and $5 for students/seniors/Fresno State faculty and staff. New works displayed in Lyles Gallery through May 15
The digital art of David Jenkins will be on display in the Lyles Gallery through May 15. Jenkins' work has been exhibited in the U.S. and Europe. His art has won several awards including a Sedona Arts Festival "Best of Class" and the Los Angles Center for Digital Arts Top 40. His work has been was recognized by PBS KVPT in the "Textures of Fresno" TV special and by the Theatre Arts Department. Presently, his work is on exhibit at the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art in Las Vegas. The Lyles Gallery is located in the Speech Arts building on the Fresno State campus. Gallery hours are M-F from noon- 4 p.m. and 1 hour before curtain on performance days.

 

Time Again in Oz performances are May 7-15
Time Again in Oz plays May 7-8 and 11-15 at 8 p.m. and May 9 at 2 p.m in the John Wright Theatre. The play is a musical adaptation of Frank L. Baum’s Ozma of Oz. In this re-imagined version, Dorothy (Sarah Lofgren), Bill (her pet chicken – Molly Kelly) and her Uncle Henry (a crotchety old man in a wheelchair – Matthew McGee) are transported to Oz by a wild storm at sea. Time has been stopped in Oz for what seems like years. After run-ins with the Gnome King (Edward Anderson) and the Wheelers, Dorothy is sure she doesn’t want to have another adventure here. But she soon finds herself embroiled in Oz affairs. All performances begin at 8 p.m. except on Sunday when the performance begins at 2 p.m. Closed on Monday. Admission for Fresno State faculty/staff, Alumni Association members*, seniors (60 +) and non-Fresno State students and military is $17. Admission for Fresno State students* is $12.
