(Library, emeritus) was quoted in the article, "The college education scam, the student loan bubble, and a lifetime of debt" for the National Examiner. He commented on the results of a recent adult literacy assessment, saying, "Only 31 percent of college graduates can read a complex book and extrapolate from it. That's not saying much for the remainder."

Timothy Stearns
(Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) was awarded first place for his workshop “Assessment of Business Plan Competitions” at the 2011 United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship held Jan. 13-16 in Hilton Head, S.C. Stearns and six other colleagues from Rowan University, University of Miami, Tufts University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation were all rewarded for their discussion surrounding Business Plan Competitions and their rising popularity among business and entrepreneurship programs. Stearns is also the co-host of the National Elevator Pitch Contest held each fall and through the Lyles Center has launched a video pitch competition for students at Central Valley colleges www.lyleschallenge.com.
