University High production Nov. 2
The curtain rises on an evening of instrumental and vocal music including jazz,
classical, contemporary and musical theater at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, as University High School‘s Performing Arts Department presents “Magic of the Arts.” The production will be staged in the Satellite Student Union. Click here for details.

LUNAFEST film festival returns Nov. 3
LUNAFEST, the touring festival of short films created by, for and about women, begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, in the Satellite Student Union, with proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Fund and Fresno State Women’s Resource Center. 'Intimate Apparel' debuts Nov. 3
“Intimate Apparel,” the second play in this year’s University Theatre series, debuts Friday, Nov. 3, in the Arena Theatre under the direction of theatre arts professor Thomas Ellis. The play by Lynn Nottage, set in the early 20th century, is about a talented seamstress who is African-American and whose dreams of independence become intertwined with her search for love. Curtain for “Intimate Apparel” is at 8 p.m. Nov. 3, 4 and 7-11 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. Click here for details.

CSU student film festival
The three-day 16th annual CSU Media Arts Festival begins Friday, Nov. 3, at California State University, Channel Islands in Camarillo. The event, which is sponsored by CSU Summer Arts, gives students in film, movie and video classes an opportunity to compete for cash prizes and to have their work judged by industry professionals. CSU Summer Arts brings hundreds of creative students, performers and instructors to the Fresno State campus each July for study and public performance. Click here for details.

Variety marks music calendar
A saxophone Festival culminating in a concert featuring jazz saxophonist Gary Keller, a Fresno State choir concert and a performance by the Ethos Trio, one of Mexico’s most promising contemporary groups are on November’s music calendar. The Saxophone Festival starts the music Saturday, Nov. 4. The Choirs of Fresno State concert, with its broad variety of styles and groups, is Nov. 12, while the Ethos Trio’s performance is scheduled Nov. 30. Haefliger is November Keyboard Concerts soloist
Swiss pianist Andreas Haefliger will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Concert Hall of the Music Building. Haefliger’s performance is part of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts series. Click here for details or call 278.2337.
