'Dogs hit the hardwood
The Fresno State men’s and women’s Basketball seasons tip off in November. The Save Mart Center is one of the hardest venues on the West Coast for visiting teams because of the support of Bulldog boosters. Both basketball programs look to continue this trend. The men’s regular season begins Nov. 10-12 with the Fresno State Tournament. The women’s home opener is set for Nov. 17 vs. BYU.  Both teams have tough nonconference schedules, and fans will get to see some of the top basketball teams compete in Fresno. The men’s team also will host Creighton and Stanford as well as a Bracketbusters game. The Bulldogs were selected to finish third in the conference this season. Women’s basketball will take on perennial powers Texas Tech and Stanford, and are picked to finish second in the WAC. There are a variety of ticket programs, including mini plan packages, this season. Click here for details.

Basketball on radio and TV
KMJ 580 (AM) again will be the radio home for men’s basketball games this season and every women’s basketball game will be broadcast by 1430 ESPN Radio (AM). In addition, Bulldog Sports Network (broadcast on KFRE, Channel 59) will carry seven games on TV (Stanford at home and six away games). The Fresno Comcast cable system will broadcast six women’s basketball home games on its Channel 14 and CSTV, a national cable and satellite network, will broadcast the women’s home game against Stanford.

This and that
Fresno State’s soccer team heads to Reno on Thursday, Nov. 2, to defend its crown in the WAC Tournament … The Bulldog volleyball home regular-season schedule ends with games Nov. 9 vs. Idaho and Nov. 11 against Boise State, both WAC games … Fresno State will again host the highly successful Run for the Dream indoor track and field meet on Jan. 15 at the Save Mart Center.

Cotton program unveiled
A new partnership with the California Cotton Growers, who are donating bales of cotton that will be auctioned off at the end of the year, will benefit student-athletes through Fresno State Athletics programs. This unique partnership, which is just beginning, ties Fresno State Athletics to agriculture, the region’s most important industry.
