Matthew JendianMatthew Jendian
(Sociology/American Humanics) was part of a panel discussion about housing on “Grapevine,” a public affairs TV show on KNXT, Channel 49. Jendian and the other panelists, all members of the Fresno Housing Alliance, previewed the Interfaith Housing Forum: Seeking Shelter, scheduled at 2 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Mennonite Community Church, 5015 E. Olive Ave., Fresno. The forum is sponsored by the Interfaith Social Justice Collaborative.

Isabel Kaprielian
(History) book, “Like Our Mountains: a History of Armenians in Canada”, was awarded the CLIO prize by the Canadian Historical Association as the best book on the history of the province of Ontario (2005). Kaprielian has given presentations about the book on a tour of major Canadian cities (Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Cambridge) and to the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research in Belmont, Mass. She presented a paper on Armenian orphans at the 75th Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Toronto and was invited by the Armenian Cultural Foundation in Arlington, Mass., to present a review of the book “Murad of Sepastia,” Her review essay on “Murad” was published by Horizon Weekly.

(Chemistry, Emeritus) published “Humphry Davy: Life beyond the Lamp,” Chemical Heritage (Winter, 2006/2007); “LSD: Albert Hofmann's 'Problem Child’” (with former Fresno State students Isaac Mayo, D.V.M., of Los Angeles and Dr. G. Wayne Craig of Syngenta Aktiengesellschaft, Basel, Switzerland), “Heavy Hydrogen, Geophysics, and Planetary Science: A Retrospective View of Harold C. Urey (1893-1981) on the 75th Anniversary of His Discovery of Deuterium and the 25th Anniversary of His Death,” and “Grenzgänge-Albert Hofmann zum 100. Geburtstag; Exploring the Frontiers - In Celebration of Albert Hofmann's 100th Birthday," all in The Chemical Educator (Dec. 1); “Candid Science V: Conversations with Famous Scientists," Angewandte Chemie: Eine Zeitschrift der Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (Dec. 2, in German); and “Valley Voices: 100 years of safer food and drugs for FDA," The Fresno Bee (Dec. 9).

Lanny Larson
(University Communications) was appointed editor with responsibilities for FresnoState Magazine, the online Journal and other news writing and editing. He has been senior writer and editor at Fresno State after a 35-year career with The Fresno Bee and TV station Channel 24.

(Women’s Resource Center/Central Valley Cultural Heritage Center) was honored by the Fresno Metro Ministry for her work in promoting diversity and cultural inclusion throughout the Fresno community.

Tamyra PierceTamyra Pierce
(Mass Communication and Journalism), her research "Talking to Strangers on MySpace: Teens’ Use of Internet Social Networking Sites," was included in the Journal of Media Psychology and included in an InfoAlert issued by the U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Germany.

Doug Singleton
(Physics) published "An Undergraduate Experiment to Test Relativistic Kinematics Using In-flight Positron Annihilation" in the American Journal of Physics, collaborating with a professor in Poland and two students in Japan. Singleton’s "Fermion Generations, Masses and Mixings in a 6D Brane Model," written with Fresno State physics student Silvestre Aguilar was published in Physical Review.
