49th Peach Blossom Festival set March 15-16
Fresno State will host the 49th annual Peach Blossom Festival of Communication on March 15 and 16, giving about 5,000 children from the central San Joaquin Valley an opportunity to learn about oral interpretation and to visit the campus. The festival, which is run by the Department of Speech Communication, helps young people realize the importance of reading literature aloud and teaches them about interpretation, performance and being an audience member.
USDA/HSI program helps organize Networking Fair
The U.S. Department of Agriculture-Hispanic Service Institutions National Program (Office of the Liaison) worked in collaboration with Career Services at Fresno State to develop the first USDA Networking Fair on campus, attracting about 150 participants. It provided students, faculty and staff an opportunity to meet with regional representatives and learn about opportunities. Rita Bocchinfuso-Cohen (Career Services) and Daryl Fitzgerald (Employer Relations/Recruitment) helped develop the event, Participants included Hernan Maldonado (Director of MESA), Lilia DeLaCerda (HCOP), Tony Garduque (EOP), Lonna Torrico (Central Valley Ag Literacy Program) and Aleta Wolfe (Career Experience).
Student Volunteer of the Year nominations due March 26
The deadline is March 26 for submission of 2007 University Student Volunteer of the Year nomination forms. Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate students or to encourage self-nominations.
